BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER

The Central Florida Freethought Community (CFFC) is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to defending secular values and building a strong community where nonreligious people feel supported, connected, and empowered.

We don’t have traditional memberships (yet), but we do need people who care. Whether you have time, skills, or simply want to show support, here are five easy ways to help:

1. Get involved.

One of the easiest ways to support CFFC is simply by showing up and staying connected.

  • Subscribe to our email list for updates and events

  • Follow and share our content on Facebook

  • Join our Meetup group for events and activities

  • Connect with local secular-friendly groups through our Allies page

You don’t have to join us—but we hope you’ll join something that advances reason and secular values.

2. Be Visible

When safe and comfortable, being open about your secular identity helps normalize nonreligious perspectives and build understanding.

  • Share your experiences and values with others

  • Talk about Humanism and secular ideas

  • Attend events to meet like-minded people and build confidence

  • Explore resources from American Humanist Association

Visibility matters. The more people know nonreligious people exist, the harder we are to ignore.

3. Learn & Educate

Understanding church-state separation helps all of us advocate more effectively.

  • Explore resources from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF)

  • Learn what qualifies as a state/church violation

  • Invite us to speak to your organization or community group

  • Reach out with questions about potential concerns

Need help? Contact us for presentations, questions, or resources.

4. Stay Vigilant

Many violations happen quietly—and community awareness makes a difference.

  • Subscribe to city and county government newsletters

  • Monitor schools, public meetings, and local government activity

  • Watch for inappropriate religious influence in public spaces

  • Attend board, council, or commission meetings when possible

See something concerning? Let us know.

5. Report Possible Violations

Many church-state violations happen because people simply don’t know the law.

  • Report concerns or ask questions through our Contact Us page

  • Help educate and correct issues by speaking up

  • Reach out if you’re unsure whether something is appropriate

When in doubt, ask. We’re here to help.
