Volusia County, FL, Commission Meeting
2 December 2025
Diana Dixon (193 words)
Thank you for the opportunity to begin this meeting.
This morning, we take a moment to reflect on the shared responsibility we hold as members of one community. Each person in this room has chosen a path of service, and that choice matters.
The work done here shapes neighborhoods, supports families, and helps create the conditions in which people can live with dignity and opportunity.
Let this pause help us settle into a spirit of cooperation, patience, and commitment to the common good.
Writer and activist James Baldwin once said, “We are responsible for the world in which we find ourselves, if only because we are the only sentient forces that can change it.” His reminder calls us to approach today’s discussions with clarity, courage, and care.
May this meeting be guided by thoughtful listening and genuine respect.
May the decisions made here reflect fairness, evidence, and a sincere desire to improve the lives of all residents, including those whose voices are not always heard.
And may each person at this table feel supported in the work ahead.
Thank you, and may this time together move our community forward with wisdom and compassion.
